We are so fortunate to live near our families and because of that my Mom is able to watch our kids at least once per week. So this Mother’s Day I was able to say ‘thanks’ by taking her on a 24 hour excursion to the lovely Omni Bedford Springs.
Built in the late 1800s, and host to multiple presidents, Bedford Springs was known as a healing getaway. And it still is! From the food to the world-class spa it is the perfect respite. And, lucky for us, only an hour and a half from Pittsburgh.
The first time there, a couple of years ago, I couldn’t believe the incredible tales of the renovation that had taken place and the attention to detail given to the decor. I had heard from a friend that there was a Bedford Springs design guide so of course I asked the Concierge if I might review it. The entire renovation was done by a firm out of Richmond called 3north and not only did they do their homework – and then some – but they made a historical renovation look modern & fresh. Think wallpaper on the ceilings, Benjamin Moore colors, marble mosaic tile, and Waterworks fixtures in each and every bathroom of the massive resort.
My mom and I took advantage of our 24 hours away by enjoying the spa, having dinner in the Crystal room on property and taking time to catch up with one another.

It’s hard not to leave Bedford Springs without being relaxed, but I was excited to get home in time for brunch with my little ones. While they were not along for this particular trip, the hotel has a LOT for kids to do from the hiking to fire pit, outdoor and indoor spring-fed pools, horseshoes, and lots of family-oriented activities.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the Moms in my life – and a big thanks to my wonderful kids for making ME a mom.
